Zero Waste Dinner

In every household in Cyprus, a familiar scene unfolds:
leftover food, ingredients forgotten in the fridge or in cupboards.
Quantities that seem small in our daily lives, but which, collectively, place Cyprus in the highest position in Europe for food waste.

Yet this picture can change – starting with simple and practical steps.
With a little creativity, leftovers can be transformed into new meals.
And with small shifts in our habits, even our festive tables can become more sustainable.

To demonstrate how this can be applied in practice, LIFE IP Zero Waste Cyprus, in collaboration with the Zero Waste Alliance Cyprus (Action C4), is organising a Zero Waste Dinner.

On Wednesday, 17 December, at Friends of the Earth Cyprus in Limassol, chef Jack Yiannakou will showcase:

  • ways to make the most of seasonal and local ingredients
  • ideas for turning leftovers into new dishes
  • practical techniques to reduce kitchen waste

The event will also feature a “take what you need” corner, with products provided by Agnogrocery, Rescue Box and Zero Food Waste Cyprus – from local, packaging-free goods to items close to their expiration date, and fruits or vegetables with minor imperfections that remained unsold at the OXI Farmers’ Market.
This initiative supports the use of products that would otherwise be discarded, despite being perfectly safe for consumption, and promotes waste prevention through practices such as product refill and the reduction of unnecessary plastic packaging.

Participation is limited – only 20 places available.
