Inaugural Meeting For the Tender TΠ 04/2023 On “Supply And Installation Of 50 Prefabricated Green Kiosks” On 16/1/2024

On Tuesday, January 16, 2024, a presentation was held by the Department of Environment (DoE) and the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) on the progress of the Project to install 50 prefabricated Green Kiosks in mountainous and remote areas of all the provinces of Cyprus. The aim of the Green Kiosks operation is the separate collection of recyclable municipal waste from areas where they are not served by licensed waste collectors, thus diverting a significant part of the produced municipal waste from ending up in landfills.

During the presentation, the prioritization of the location of the Green Kiosks was discussed, the required actions that must be carried out by the involved bodies regarding issues of licensing, installation, operation and purchase of services as well as for the coordination on the issue of collection and transport of the collected materials.

This presentation was attended by the Mayor of Lefkara, the Presidents of the communities of the provinces of Nicosia, Larnaca, Limassol and Paphos, representatives of the Green Dot company, as well as the 5 Development Agencies (Nicosia, Larnaca, Limassol, Troodos and Paphos).

The Green Kiosks are implemented as an action within the LIFE20 Project IPE/CY/00011 LIFE-Integrated Project CYzero WASTE, of the LIFE Program and the Recovery and Resilience Fund with EU co-financing.
